Proposed Changes in Library Hours

Your input is requested! The Racine Public Library is considering a change in the hours open per week, by reallocating resources, to provide more consistent hours. The new schedule would be more efficient without increasing costs.

The proposal would increase hours on Thursday evenings, (9am to 8pm), Fridays (11am to 4pm), and Saturdays (11am to 4pm); decrease hours Monday-Wednesday (9am to 8pm); and change hours on Sundays (1pm to 4pm). The current hours are:

Monday-Wednesday, 9am-9pm

Thursday, 9am-5:30pm

Friday, 1-5:30pm

Saturday, 1-5pm

Sundays (October-April), 2-5pm

The proposed hours are:

Monday-Thursday, 9am-8pm

Fridays and Saturdays, 11am-4pm

Sundays, October-May, 1-4pm (closing the Sunday before and after Christmas; open during May until the week before Memorial Day)

Wednesday, February 6: Library Closed Due to Inclement Weather

The Racine Public Library and Mobile Library will be closed due to heavy snow on Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Any materials due February 6, 2008 will now be due February 13, 2008. The library will reopen, Thursday, February 7 at 9am.

Due to the impending inclement weather, the following programs have been canceled or rescheduled:

Tuesday, Febraury 5: "Wind Point Lighthouse" Authors at the library has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 6 preschool storytimes at 9:30 & 10:30 a.m. have been canceled

Wednesday, Feb. 6 Coming Together Racine screening of "Do The Right Thing" has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 2.

Wednesday, Feb 6 Ruff Readers from 4 - 5pm has been canceled.

Wednesday, Feb. 6: Introduction to Microsoft Word at 9:30 am has been canceled.

Mobile Library Fall/Winter Schedule

September 10, 2007 marked the beginning of the Racine Mobile Library's Fall/Winter schedule of weekly neighborhood stops. The following changes should be noted: the Pick & Save Regency Point stop has been moved from Tuesday to Wednesday; the bus will now stop at John Paul II Academy on Wednesday mornings. The current schedule is as follows:
