Become a Friend of the Library

With more than 110 years of serving the community's information and cultural needs, the Racine Public Library has become a valued and vital community link. Behind this important community foundation is a valued and vital support group: The Friends of the Racine Public Library. The public is invited to join the Friends' 2008 membership and become an important part of preserving and promoting library services to the community. As the demand for library services continues to increase and library funding continues to remain stagnant, the Friends of the Library become invaluable to the Racine Public Library, providing financial support and community advocacy.

Funding provided by the Friends of the Library enables the library to expand programming and services to children, teens, adults and those with special needs. In the past the Friends have been instrumental in providing such services as large print material, TTY printers for the hearing impaired, document preservation projects, microfilm and microfiche readers, audio books, and much more.

Many rewarding volunteer opportunities are available for members as the Friends host several annual fund-raising events: the Breakfast with the Authors, bi-annual book sales, on-going lobby book sale, and other lectures, readings and presentations by local and nationally-known authors.

For more information or to become a member contact the Racine Public Library at 262.636.9170 or visit the library's website at racinelibrary.info. Membership forms are also available from the public service desks at the Main Library and from the Mobile Library.
