A Different Kind of Football Fan: Mobile Library @ the Raiders

It's come a long way from its humble beginnings in a renovated 1948 school bus, but the Mobile Library is still going strong and goes out of its way to provide outstanding service to many Racine residents. So, it should come as no surprise that this rolling library will be on hand for Saturday's Racine Raiders game against the Wisconsin Wolfpack at 7 pm.

The Racine Public Library's Mobile Library will be on the grounds of Historic Horlick Field when the gates open on Saturday, August 2. Visitors may register for a free library card and check out materials during this event.

During the week of August 19-23, the Racine Public Library will be hosting a number of neighborhood celebrations to honor the 60 year Mobile Library tradition. The celebrations will feature giveaways, raffles, games, activities, stories and Mobile history exhibits for the whole family. Patrons are also invited to add their personal memories to our Mobile Library commemorative journal at any time from August-December.

If you haven't had a chance to experience this valuable community resource, we encourage you to visit the Mobile library at the Racine Raider game or at any of the upcoming neighborhood events. Come meet our knowledgeable and friendly staff, and pick up more information about what they have to offer.

The Mobile Library will celebrate in these local neighborhoods:

  • Tuesday, August 19 3:00-4:30 pm South Park in Sturtevant
  • Wednesday, August 20 5:30-6:30 pm Virginia St. and Kinzie Ave.
