Children entering the 5th grade in September, from any school or home-school in Kenosha & Racine, are invited to submit a piece of art that may be part of a silent auction fundraiser for Peace Learning Circles of Kenosha & Racine (PLC).
The artwork is open to the child's interpretation of the theme, "Friday's Child is Loving and Giving", which comes from the Mother Goose poem "Monday's Child." Completed artwork should be either 8 ½" by 11" or 12" by 15". On a separate sheet of paper, include the child's name, parent's name & phone number and the school the child will be attending in September and paper clip it to the artwork. On the front of art, have the child put their first name only, as their signed piece of art. Artwork can be dropped off in the Children's Dept. at the Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., or in Kenosha at the Northside or Southside Libraries. The drop-off deadline is August 28.
A selection committee will choose the pieces that will be part of Peace Learning Circles "Friday's Child", A Fundraiser and Silent Art Auction. This unique event will feature a silent fine art auction featuring some of Racine and Kenosha's finest artists and a silent children's art auction featuring some of our most talented and creative young artists from the communities. Artwork will be available for bidding from September 20 – 27. The Main Event will take place on September 27, and will include the final art bidding and winners announced, children's activities, meet the artists, a drawing and donations. All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to Peace Learning Circles and bringing our program to students in Racine and Kenosha.
