If you've collected some items in your spring cleaning that you think might be of value to others, the Racine Public Library has a program you may be interested in. A series of three free seminars on the basics of Ebay are scheduled for Thursdays in April and May from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St. Space is limited to 50 participants, so early registration is recommended. Registration may be made by calling the Adult Services Dept. of the library at 262.636.9217

The library will be offering these classes:

  • Thursday, April 9 - The Basics of Buying on eBay – This class will offer tips on researching, finding the things you want, proxy bidding, Buy It Now, and making offers as well as paying for and receiving your items.

  • Thursday, April 23 -The Basics of Selling on eBay - This class covers the basics of selling, including researching, pricing, writing descriptions and titles, posting photos, following the listing, PayPal, packing and shipping.

  • Thursday, May 7 - Beyond the Basics - There are many tools available to use to make listing on eBay easier. Some tools are free and others require a monthly fee. This seminar covers several tool options and discusses their pros and cons.
The seminars will be facilitated by Ebay consultant Mardi Timm. Mardi Timm is the President of Timm and Associates; a company that provides services to individuals and businesses in the form of training, direct sales, and consignment sales. She has been in business, serving Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, since 2004. Mardi is one of only 28 eBay Certified Business Consultants in the country. Mardi has been selling on eBay since 1998 and, since 2002, has taught hundreds of people how to sell. In 2008, Mardi created and presented a seminar on "Packing The Unpackable" at eBay Live in Chicago; a gathering of about 10,000 people. Her experience, knowledge, and expertise in the field make her an excellent trainer and resource for all who strive for success.
