Job Skills Workshops

The Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., will offer a free four-part job skills workshop beginning Thursday, April 8. The workshops include Job Search Basics, Resume Writing, Employer Expectations and Interviewing for Success. These skill-building sessions are offered by the Racine and Kenosha Area Chapter (SRKA) of the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).


Four classes are being offered. Each workshop is limited to 15 participants and registration is required. Participants may register for any or all of the following:

Thursday, April 8, 6:30 p.m. – Job Search Basics

Start your employment search strong and learn different approaches to looking for a job. Learn about useful application tips and available community resources.

Thursday, April 15, 6:30 p.m. – Resume Writing

Make a great first impression and discover what information to include in your resume, when to use it and how to use formatting to best showcase your qualities.

Thursday, April 22, 6:30 p.m. – Employer Expectations

Come see what skills and traits an employer is really looking for in a prospective employee.

Thursday, April 29, 6:30 p.m. – Interviewing for Success

Sell yourself in an interview by learning the skills and competencies a job applicant needs. Interview preparation, tips and common questions asked will be discussed.

All workshop sessions will be held in the Lee Room at the Racine Public Library. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion after each session. To reserve a spot for these free programs or for more information, contact the Racine Public Library at (262) 636-9217.

The workshop sessions were developed and will be presented by volunteers from the SRKA Workforce Readiness Committee. The SRKA organization is comprised of local human resource professionals whose mission is to meet the human resource needs of the community.
