Saturday, March 5: Lois on the Loose

One spirited woman takes a trip from Alaska to Argentina, then through the length of Africa, all from the seat of a motorcycle. The books documenting her experiences have been called "funny...gutsy...snappy...and honest". The Racine Public Library is proud to host an adventure-filled presentation by the UK's Lois Pryce, author of "Lois on the Loose - One Woman, One Motorcycle, 20,000 Miles Across the Americas". The presentation will be held at the Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St, on Saturday, March 5 at 2:00pm. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.

She can't quite remember how it all started, but back in 2000 the combination of itchy feet and a recently acquired motorcycle licence put ideas in the head of an adventurous Lois Pryce. With Chris Scott's "Adventure Motorcycling Handbook" in hand, a plan to motorcycle from Alaska to the tip of South America was born.

On the back of a Yamaha XT225 Serow, and later a Yamaha TTR205, Pryce chucked her boring office job and hit the road to trek from Alaska to Argentina, and then through the length of Africa on the back of her motorcycle. Her crossing in the Sahara and the dangerous terrain of the Congo and Angola proved to be a truly challenging ride. From these adventures came two exciting books about Pryce's experiences: "Lois on the Loose" and "Red Tape & White Knuckles".

Lois Pryce currently works in the UK as a freelance writer and journalist, contributing to various motorcycle and travel publications around the globe. She travels the world presenting her experiences to bike and motor clubs, businesses and schools. Together with her fellow motorcycle adventurer and film-maker, Austin Vince, she runs dirt-biking navigation events in the Spanish Pyrenees and has launched "The Adventure Travel Film Festival" in the UK.

Join us for this once in a lifetime opportunity to share first hand the experiences of this spirited adventuress. This is one program opportunity you will not want to miss!

Lois Pryce's books will be available for purchase at the event and may also be purchased from Amazon.com.
