Library Offers College Prep Seminars

The Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., is hosting three college preparation seminars for students in grades 9-11 and their parents beginning in July. All seminars are being conducted by Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation. The following topics will be covered:

What Every Parent Needs to Know About Getting Their Kid Into College
Wednesday, July 27 from 6:30-7:30pm
For parents of students in grades 9-11, this workshop explains what they can do to help their children prepare for college. Topics covered include: setting expectations, preparing academically, aiming toward a career, researching and applying for colleges, financial aid, and adjusting to college.

Plan Your Collegeland Adventure Early
Tuesday, August 2 from 6:30-7:30pm
In this workshop, 9th and 10th graders are given an early look at what it takes to get to, and to get through, college. They'll learn what they can start doing immediately to prepare themselves, and will receive an overview of what they can expect between now and their first day of college.

The ACT and SAT: Prepare Yourself for a Higher Score
Monday, August 15 from 6:30-7:30pm
The goal of this workshop is to inform and educate students about preparing for the ACT or SAT. To ensure financial barriers don't prevent them from properly studying for or taking the tests, advisers will provide students with information on how to access a free test prep resource online and fee waivers that may be available to them.

All programs are free and open to the public. No registration is necessary. Contact the library at 262.636.9245 for more information or visit www.racinelibrary.info.
