With both the release of a new CD and a performance at Carnegie Hall scheduled for 2013, classical guitarist Peter Fletcher is returning to the Racine Public Library to perform the music of Bach, Paganini and other composers on Monday, September 24 at 6:30 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.
Fletcher's repertoire is a blend of classical guitar standards, new music and transcriptions from other instruments, such as the piano. The 70-minute performance will feature Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" from Cantata No. 147 and "Chaconne in D minor" and two pieces from Maurice Ravel's "Mother Goose." The second half of the program will include a selection from Fletcher's upcoming CD release of compositions by Edvard Grieg and climax with Paganini's technically demanding "Caprice No. 24."
The event is being sponsored by the Friends of the Racine Public Library as part of their mission to promote and support public library resources and community programs. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis and Fletcher will be available after his performance to meet members of the audience.
