The Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., is beginning to recruit teams of students in
grades 4 – 5 for its annual Battle of the Books competition. Teams can register online from now
until December 14. The battles will be held in late winter / early spring of 2013.
Students form teams of up to four members and each team reads the same list of 40 titles,
according to youth services librarian Anne Chapman Callaghan. She said teams prepare for
battle in their own ways and come together between late February and early April for team-on-
team meets.
The Battle of the Books program is aimed at students who truly enjoy reading and
are team players. Contact the library's youth services department at 262-636-9245 or
anne.callaghan@racinelibrary.info for more information.
Teachers or team coaches can register online at http://www.racinelibrary.info/YouthServicesBOB.htm.
Registration will only be accepted online.
