EL ChessAcademics LLC will hold an instructional chess workshop at the Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Youth Services Dept. Kids of all ages are invited to attend this free program. Although walk-ins are welcome, registration for the workshop is recommended. To register, call the library at 262.636.9245.
In the workshop, students will learn placement and movement of chess pieces, chess terminology, and fundamentals of the game. Students may be paired with other players according to knowledge of the game to facilitate chess playing.
Chess instruction will be facilitated by Edward Larkin, President and Founder of EL ChessAcademics, using the Chess Academy's "Chess, Math and Extended Response Workbook" currently being used in the Chicago area schools and community. EL ChessAcademics is an affiliate of the USCF.
