Effective October 1, 2011, as part of the Racine Reads: Dream Big! Project, the Racine Public Library will eliminate existing overdue fines for students in grades K-5. Library Board President Douglas Miller stated, "We want to wipe the slate clean and remove this barrier in order to help students read a million books."
If a student already has overdue fines on his or her record, they will be removed on October 1, 2011. From October 1, 2011 through May 31, 2012, we will periodically remove any further fines for students in grades K-5 for children's materials they have returned late. We encourage you to return any library books that you currently have overdue.
