President of the Common Council, Alderman Jim Kaplan will read the popular nursery
rhyme, "Kittens Who Lost Their Mittens" at a special story time to bring awareness to the
childhood lead poisoning problem in Racine. Youth Services librarians will also be reading
stories about mittens during the half hour program, which is open to children of all ages and
their caegivers.
The City of Racine Health Department will present the Lead Poisoning Prevention event on
Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10 am at the Racine Public Library. A display of 3,066 children's
mittens will serve as a lead poisoning prevention awareness campaign that symbolizes the
number of children who have been poisoned by lead in the city of Racine.
