Racine Public Library and BONK! Host a Night of Independent Music

The Racine Public Library, in collaboration with The BONK! Performance Series, will
host 3 independent, singer/songwriter acts for a concert on Monday, November 12 th at 7pm.
The event will take place upstairs in the Adult Services Department near the windows that look
over Lake Michigan. Though no regular library services will be available past 8pm, the library
building will stay open longer than usual for this special event.

The featured acts of the night include Kevin Schlereth and Lauryn Peacock, who are on a nation-
wide tour together currently, as well as the Midwest-based band Families. This program is free
and open to the public.

Families consists of three folk story tellers who love to play music with friends, inviting them
to pick up instruments and play along, and are used to playing in living rooms, basements,
coffee shops, and parks. They have two albums: Deceitful Children--released August 2011
and available at http://familiesband.bandcamp.com/--and Holy Week (with The Singing
Company), released April 2011 and available at http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/holy-week/

Traveling from Philadelphia, PA, Lauryn Peacock makes hauntingly beautiful experimental indie
folk music. Lauryn spent most of her life with music serving as the backdrop, but only recently
committed herself to leaving her imprint on the fabric. Her first album is titled Keep It Simple
Let the Sun Come Out, and has been described as "a deeply satisfying mix of moody and hopeful
songs."

Hailing from his Toyota Corolla by way of St. Louis, Missouri, Kevin Schlereth is a permanently-
touring folk rock act with heart. Kevin's music, including his latest release, Don't Die! Please
Stop Dying, invites you to rest in a pleasant balance of intelligence and emotion. Since
beginning his touring career in 2002, Kevin has played over 1500 shows across the entire
United States. Garnering comparison to a plethora of diverse artists including David Bazan,
meWithoutYou, Modest Mouse, Conor Oberst, Josh Garrels, and Silversun Pickups, Kevin has
proven to create somewhat enigmatic, shape-shifting music that is bound together with a
common appreciation for the way that sound interacts with thought and feeling. Kevin is
currently focusing on playing house concerts as he continues to tour incessantly. House shows
provide an ideal vehicle for Kevin's vision of touring to build community and share life with
people. He travels with his wife, Jessica, and their two children, Kevin and Madeline. They are
not on a mission for fans or "likes"…. they are seeking to turn new friends into family and to
work alongside people that share their vision.
